About the Project
From their individual “deluded” beliefs of worshipping an ass-headed god, to their place as representatives of Rome's official religion under Theodosius I in AD 381, there are many misconceptions about Christians in the Roman Empire. As such, the Christians of the Roman Empire Project (abbreviated as the CoRE Project) is a website designed to critically evaluate these representations, by providing additional information for museum visitors and an online tool for people interested in understanding artefacts better.
It was envisioned by ancient historian and numismatist Sebastian Harris, who has worked in museums and institutes across Australia. He has also published several researched works to complement. Featuring maps, timelines, artefacts ‘hotspots,' a blog article and images galore, the CoRE Project brings ancient history to life in a creative and tangible way. See below for all available content.
PLEASE NOTE: Mature content discussing violent entertainment, religious torture/execution and ritual suicide.
